How can I help my preschooler?

To support your preschooler and get them ready for Kindergarten, there are many things that you as a parent can do. First, beginning readers need to be able to recognize letters. Next, young readers need phoneme awareness. Phoneme awareness is the ability to detect phonemes in spoken words. To help your child improve on these skills, read to them! The best books to read to them are alphabet books. These books talk individually about each letter, usually with fun and catching sayings to help them remember each letter. Click here for a link to good

Children need to have books read aloud to them. I recommend setting aside time every night just for reading. Just this exposure will set children up for kindergarten.
